Nockamixon - Station 94

In 1986, Bucks County planning commission did a study of fire protection thru out the county. One of the things that was looked at was response time from each station. A map was created with this data that showed 4 and 8 minute response circles. A large part of Nockamixon township fell out of the 4 minute zone and a fair portion outside of the 8 minute zone.
The Ottsville Volunteer Fire Co covered most of this area. There were also portions of Springfield and Durham townships that also were outside of these zones.
It was discussed about adding a station at that time, but funding wasn't available. In 2006 the study was updated and those zones had not been addressed. Funding was still an issue. By 2012 members of Ottsville started to plan for a station to fill those voids. After a long search for ground to build on, a local farmer offered land to build a station.
The station was designed with 2 bays attached to an existing building at the farm. Construction started in the fall of 2014 and the station was opened in the fall of 2015. Special Service 94 (purchase in 2006) and E-94 ( purchase in 2010) finally had their own station.
The immediate impact was shown by response times to the north and east portion of Nockamixon township dropped by over 4 mins. The additional of Station 94 has greatly increased the safety of the community.
